We were called just after 9 a.m by Devon & Cornwall Police for assistance in a search for a 75 year old lady deemed to be at high risk, as she had been missing from her home in Beaford for 8 days. An extensive search of open ground, woodland and rivers was carried out by mixed teams from Tavistock, North Dartmoor and Exmoor Search and Rescue Teams. Late in the afternoon a body was located in a river and recovered to the bank by Fire and Rescue personnel from Barnstaple assisted by Swift Water Rescue Technicians from Exmoor SRT. A sad outcome to an efficient multi-team operation. Our thoughts are with family and friend’s.
