The team were requested to RV in Exeter at 0700 to help locate a missing person in the Exeter area, by Devon & Cornwall Police.
Lots of public appeals were being made by Devon & Cornwall Police, both though social media and door-to-door, the team were called in to help search areas where the missing person could be or have been through.
Team members searched throughout the morning, day, and into the early evening; some searching from 0700 all the way through until 1700. Team members from our sister team, Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team – Ashburton, were also called in and joined in the search from around 1200 onwards.
Team members searched around the whole of the Exeter city area following guidance from the police and evidence from the police’s enquiries.
Both NDSART and DSRT-Ashburton were stood down, by police, at around 1700 as the police continued their enquires and searching.
In the early hours of the 1st June, Devon & Cornwall Police released a message on social media that a body of a man had been found in the River Exe, it was stated that formal identification was yet to take place, but the family of the missing person had been informed. Our condolences go out to the family at this very difficult time.
