The BBC came to film a re-enactment of a callout we had done the previous year. At that incident we had successfully found the missing person – an elderly lady who had been missing for over two days. We found her alive in a wooded area not far from her home.
The filming took most of the day at the original location, Newton St Cyres. Members of Okehampton and Ashburton as well as SARDA dog teams were involved with the filming.
The re-enactment was made slightly more difficult by heavy snowfall. As the original search was in November, the replay may look a bit odd. The presenter was Rav Wilding, better known for being on ‘Crimewatch’ and recently, ‘Strictly Come Dancing’. The production team completed the filming on the following day during which they had to re-create the Controller receiving the callout from police control and start the deployment of the Team. It was quite amusing to see the BBC team struggle down the road carrying all their equipment through six inches of snow pretending it was November! The programme, ‘Missing Alive’ is due to be aired in mid March and should give the viewers an insight on how we work.
